Anthony Tonkovic
Director
Anthony is a co-founder of Helpar Group (HG), driven by a strong commitment to addressing the escalating crisis of domestic and family violence in Australia. After repeatedly hearing urgent calls for men to take action and help end this issue, he felt compelled to step up and contribute to meaningful solutions. He believes Helpar has the potential to make a significant impact by providing practical solutions and driving positive change in the fight against domestic and family violence. With a strong sense of urgency, he advocates for immediate action to end this crisis, viewing Helpar as a vital part of that movement. Throughout his career, Anthony has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to social justice and positive change. He has worked in a variety of roles within a number of larger organisations and a not-for-profit, including as a recruitment consultant and employment agency specialist, helping individuals from diverse backgrounds secure jobs and rebuild their lives. With experience across both the private and public sectors, covering industries such as IT, project services, admin and office support, procurement and banking and finance. He has provided vital support to job seekers, including those facing significant barriers. His expertise within recruitment spans across a wide range of roles, from senior management to specialist government positions. His dedication to helping others is evident in his tireless support for candidates until they achieve their employment goals.
Matt Staniforth
Director
Matt Staniforth is a co-founder of Helpar Group (HG), a purpose-driven organisation focused on contributing to meaningful action and long-term solutions to end domestic and family violence in Australia. His career spans the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors, where he has held senior roles with responsibility for operations, strategy, and organisational performance. He has extensive experience working with government, designing and implementing business and governance frameworks, and ensuring that resources are directed toward meaningful, outcome-focused service delivery. HG’s foundation is deeply influenced by his upbringing and the committed work of his father, Chris, who served as Chief Executive Officer of Legal Aid in the Australian Capital Territory and as Chair of National Legal Aid. For almost two decades during the mid-1980s to mid-2000s, Chris was a committed and persistent advocate for those affected, working not only to provide legal support, but also to actively engage with, lobby and challenge governments of all levels. From a very young age, Matt witnessed his father’s tireless advocacy for systemic reform, to improve recognition of domestic and family violence as a critical legal and social issue, and consistently pushed for more coordinated, targeted, better resourced and effective responses across the justice system and community services. The work of his father has very much shaped Matt’s understanding of both the human impact of domestic violence and the structural challenges involved in addressing it. It also instilled a strong belief that while the issue is complex, it is entirely preventable and requires sustained, collective effort by doers - those who truly do wish to make a difference. Through HG, he is committed to working alongside other for-purpose organisations, government, and the community to help lay the foundations for generational change. His focus is on contributing to practical solutions that, over time, support the eradication of domestic and family violence in Australia. He holds a clear and enduring view that meaningful change is possible, and that collective action can make a difference.
Nyomi Hudson
Director
Nyomi is a co-founder of Helpar Group (HG) and highly experienced within procurement, human resources, policy and legislation. She is committed to maximising her abilities, experience and energies towards achieving positive outcomes for Helpar and meaningful action towards ending domestic and family violence in Australia. She grew up in a regional area and has witnessed firsthand the struggles people, particularly, women and children face when attempting to access essential services when they need them most. In relation to domestic and family violence, those services just weren’t there and sadly not enough has changed. She hopes that Helpar can assist organisations and individuals operating in regional communities, providing essential services for victims and survivors of domestic and family violence. She believes education is critical to ending domestic and family violence in Australia. She sees Helpar playing a part in bridging the educational gap, through assisting in the provision of resources and educational material to where it is needed most – of fundamental importance is educating and raising awareness among school children. Her career spans across the public and private sectors, where she has held multiple positions requiring her to consistently and regularly perform at higher and more senior levels. Her strong administrative, governance and legislative understandings will be vital to the overall success of Helpar.
